Our Story

To support responsible, community-aligned home sharing by empowering everyday hosts with hospitality-focused education and partnering with cities to create safer, more welcoming guest experiences.

A future where home sharing is rooted in connection, not confusion—where hosts feel confident, guests feel cared for, and cities trust that short-term rentals are contributing to stronger, safer communities.

1. Hospitality First

We focus on the guest experience—because thoughtful, welcoming hosting is the foundation of success for everyone involved.

2. Community Matters

Short-term rentals should add to neighborhoods, not take away from them. We help hosts understand their impact and act as respectful neighbors.

3. Partnership, Not Policing

We collaborate with cities—not to regulate, but to support. We offer education as a tool to build trust and reduce friction between residents and governments.

4. Access for All

We create tools and events that are easy to understand, easy to access, and welcoming to hosts from all backgrounds and experience levels.

Home Share Host Hub was founded by Katelyn Almeda, a longtime host and educator who began her journey in 2015 by renting out a room in her own home. After mentoring thousands of new hosts across the U.S., she saw a clear gap: most resources were built for investors—not everyday homeowners.

At the same time, cities were building permitting systems but rarely investing in host education. Many residents wanted to comply but felt overwhelmed by the process—and disconnected from the agencies regulating them.

HSHH was created to bridge that gap. We help local governments educate their communities through welcoming, hospitality-focused events and resources that empower hosts to succeed—without fear or confusion.
